Hey to all my readers out there- I have been studying like crazy for my GRE, which I am taking this Friday, May 18th. I have been more than a little negligent to my readers during this time, and I'm so sorry-please forgive me! Even though most of my time has been consumed by studying, I have managed to read some really good YA books! Here is one of them! ( I have a couple more reviews to post, but I am going to spread them out)

First of all, let me say that I REALLY enjoyed this book. I have always been a fan of mysteries as well as the Victorian Era, and this book didn't let me down one bit.
The story is set in Victorian England, and follows the adventures of a 16yr old girl named Dora, who doesn't quite fit in. Taken in by her cousins upon her parents death, Dora never quite got the knack of being a polite lady, instead being a keen observer and novice detective. Her adventure begins when she travels to London with her cousin, seeking the help of Sherlock Holmes to solve a mystery-somebody is blackmailing her cousin with secret love letters! Dora tags along with an agenda of her own- to meet Sherlock Holmes because he is in fact her real father!
Without giving too much away, I will give a short summary of Dora's adventure, but won't tell you how it came about:
Dora is sent on an undercover assignment to the residence of a Duke- their daughter has gone missing and the detectives need someone to infiltrate the staff to gain insider information. While with the staff, Dora starts to unravel the mystery of where the missing girl is AND who the culprit is behind her cousins blackmailing. Working with a cute, intelligent young detective, Dora and her new colleague set out to solve the mystery and save the day!
Complete with romance, intrigue, and a heroine after my own heart, Secret Letters is a fantastic adventure for readers of all ages!
